Why this data is published
Turkish exporters' associations publish export statistics as a public duty. Under Law No. 5910 on the Establishment and Duties of the Turkish Exporters Assembly and Exporters' Associations (Article 3), associations are tasked with keeping export-related data and records, monitoring foreign trade flows, and sharing statistical information compiled by sector and country with the public, exporters and relevant authorities. The related Regulation on Exporters' Associations provides for such data to be published in aggregated form for sectoral transparency, market research and the monitoring of state support. As semi-public professional bodies, the associations' sector-level totals, derived from customs declarations, contain no personal data or trade secrets and are of a public-information nature (see also Law No. 4982 on the Right to Information).
In short, the aim is not merely to store export data but to make it public in aggregated form, in order to support market transparency, prevent unfair price formation and guide sector stakeholders. figpaste.com presents this public data in a more accessible, visual format for the same purpose: to help fig producers, exporters and buyers follow market trends.
